ZINK pocket printer
ZINK company is going to release its first product, a "zero ink" portable printer. It uses dye embedded paper inside of a pocket-sized printer to do wallet sized prints (borderless 2x3). And it's not affected by gravity !!!

The special paper, or so called the ZINK paper, is a advanced composite material with dye crystals embedded inside and a protective polymer overcoat layer outside. Just like what every company will do, the ZINK paper is patented.

According to Gizmodo - First Hands On: The Zink Bluetooth Camphone Printer:

The printer accepts transfers by Bluetooth, images of up to (maybe beyond, 3MP), downscales them internally, and pushes out prints via a simple roller. The 2x3-inch, 300 DPI shots look fantastic.

Pricing on paper is approximately 20 cents on a on a 2x3. The printer's battery lasts 20 prints per charge, and juices by USB. The internal paper tray will hold 10. Prints take for about a minute to finish from send (video after the jump). Prints are water resistant and durable enough for wallet duty, which is appropriate for a print of this size. It's sold for US $99.

According to the Zink's website, its says it only supports bluetooth and USB connection. I would prefer if it can support infrared as well, since there are still many handphones in the market that didn't equipped with bluetooth.

Dell notebook with battery problem

Dell notebook with battery problem
Another alert message to all Dell notebook users out there: A family from Leicestershire in England was left in shock after their Dell laptop exploded "like fireworks" and set fire to their carpet and lounge.

According to a story in the Leicester Mercury, Shaun Allen, 39, said the drama experienced by him, his wife and children. The offending laptop was a Dell Latitude C600 bought from a shop in Coventry, about a year before for about £500.

Quote:
"There are six batteries inside a compartment, and they were shooting out like fireworks, like rockets. "

"They even bounced off the ceiling, they went up that high."

"I tried to extinguish the laptop and cover it over with a towel. I tried to carry it outside, but it was still exploding and I let go of it."

"As I dropped it, more batteries came out like fireworks. A couple of them hit the ceiling then bounced on the floor. Another one hit the ceiling and set fire to the carpet. My wife was jumping on it to put it out."

An investigator examined the Allens' laptop.

A Dell spokesman said that although they believed the battery which exploded was not the original supplied by Dell, the company was supplying a new laptop as a gesture of goodwill for the family's co-operation with the investigation.

Last month, Dell formally requested 4.1m customers around the world return batteries shipped with its notebooks sold between 1 April 2004 and 18 July 2006. The recalled lithium-ion batteries were made by Sony, saying that Dell branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony could, under rare conditions, overheat

After reading this, should I just remove my battery from notebook? I run it on AC power 24/7 and the weather is starting to turn warm now... This worried me because I'm using a Latitude C640 purchased on 2003, although it does not falls under the time period for recall. I really don't wan't fireworks going on in my room, or even got hit by fireworks...also, did I forgot to mention I got 2 batteries... ? OMG ~~~ !

Dell XPS 600 Renegade
Been looking at this over and over lately... Dell's XPS 600 Renegade !

However I don't think I'll buy Dell's desktop because it's costing too much if Im getting that XPS 600 Renegade customized. Still prefer to go to cheap but realiable computer shops to get the components.. although the service might not be that good compared to Dell.

Dell is taking gaming seriously as the potential of gaming market is great.

Still have no idea what's a Dell XPS 600 Renegade ?
Hello ?! Quad NVIDIA SLI Technology... you know what that means ?

Smoked router - 10:48 pm
Crazy Stuff , Hardware , Internet , Personal  -  poster

It's been a while since I update my blog. Router got stroke by lightning during the storm. At first my housemate and me thought that the router is working fine, then later we found out that one port is damaged, and eventually the whole router broke down. In short, I lost internet connection until we got a new router. The good thing is, all the computers, notebooks, cable modem and anything that is plugged to the wall socket survived.

Now, here I am, back again.
